The Kansas Council for Economic Education (KCEE) is hosting a conference, "Teaching Investing, Banking, and Finance in the Classroom," for Kansas high school teachers from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, July 16-17, in various locations around the state.

Business teachers have the option of receiving free graduate credit for attending the conference. Partial scholarships will be provided to other subject area teachers accepted to the workshop.

Graduate credit will be offered from the following universities: Wichita State University, Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, Pittsburg State University and Kansas State University.

The KCEE, in partnership with its six affiliated Centers for Economic Education and the Kansas State Department of Education, is offering this opportunity in six locations: Wichita, Emporia, Hays, Lenexa, Manhattan and Pittsburg.

The conference will include continental breakfast and lunch and the opportunity to hear guest speakers from across the state discuss their experiences and best strategies to teach course objectives.

Among the experts scheduled to speak is Jill Docking, a financial consultant and former chair of the Kansas Board of Regents. Teachers will receive a free curriculum resource ($110 value) containing many lesson plans for use in teaching these topics in the classroom.

Scholarship money and space is limited. Teachers can apply online at www.kcee.wichita.edu to receive notice of acceptance and scholarship amount.

The KCEE is affiliated with all of Kansas' six public universities and is hosted by WSU's W. Frank Barton School of Business.
