Alumni Drive will be closed permanently in early August at Wichita State University. The closing is part of the overall plan to create a permanent pedestrian walkway on campus. Alumni Drive runs from near Morrison Hall south to Perimeter Road. The street closing also was necessitated by the need to relocate steam and chilled water lines. The project will be done in several phases during a period of about two years. As a result of the closing, some temporary handicapped parking spaces along Alumni Drive will be relocated to a parking lot behind Morrison Hall. Starting Tuesday, July 9, the Morrison Hall parking lot will be reconstructed to include 20 handicapped spaces.
