7.06 / Promotion and Transfer of University Support Staff

The University encourages all employees to consider applying for open positions. Vacancies are announced on the Office of Human Resources website and other sites as appropriate. See Section 7.02, University Job Listings, for more details.

All promotions will be based on past performance evaluations and experience required by the University without regard to age, ancestry, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, marital status, national origin, political affiliation, pregnancy, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or status as a veteran. Special accommodations will be considered for those who request them. 

Any regular full-time or part-time employee who has been employed continuously for six months and who has permanent status and a satisfactory or better evaluation is eligible for consideration for promotion. The six-month continuous employment will not include temporary appointments or employment in student status. Any university support staff with permanent status who is promoted with probationary status to a higher level position and whose work performance is unsatisfactory may be suspended, demoted with permanent status or dismissed.

To apply and be considered for a transfer to vacancies on campus, see Section 7.02. Any regular employee who is transferred from one position to another position at the same level will retain permanent status in the new position.
