Barton School Names Director of the Executive Education and Center for Management Development

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is pleased to announce Dr. Christopher Garnier as its new Director of Executive Education and Center for Management Development (CMD). Dr. Garnier is a managing partner for EdXecutives, an international education advocacy and consulting firm. He is also the former Executive Director of AIT Extension, the executive education and corporate training division of the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand.

“I am very excited about Dr. Chris Garnier becoming the Director of Executive Education and CMD at the Barton School,” said Dr. Gerald Graham, former interim director for Executive Education and CMD. “The CMD has a 55-year legacy of providing leadership training and workforce development services to more than 150,000 participants for hundreds of organizations in Kansas and seventeen other states. Dr. Garnier’s impressive qualifications and experience will allow him to maintain the center’s core offerings and significantly expand services to C-Suite executives, remote learners and other constituents.”   

CMD provides quality, professional education to individuals and corporate clients in order to enhance careers and foster workforce development. As a strategic partner, CMD shares current business knowledge, future trends and best practices to develop leaders and employees. While at AIT, Dr. Garnier also served as an instructor for the university’s School of Management where he taught graduate students a course he created entitled, “Developing Leadership Skills.” Throughout his career, Dr. Garnier has focused on being a progress-driven educator, motivational leader and student advocate with a passion for empowering and supporting academic communities. Prior to AIT, he served as the Dean of Ace International Business School in Kathmandu, Nepal. He is also an ambassador for HundrEd, an international education think tank and served as the inaugural CEO of Premier, a company focused on leadership training for adolescents throughout the southwest region of the US. Prior to his work in education, Dr. Garnier was a Captain in the US Marine Corps where he earned six Air Medals and multiple other honors as a combat helicopter pilot.

Dr. Garnier earned his Doctorate in Global Education from the University of Southern California. He holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from USC and a Master of Science equivalency in Aeronautical Engineering from the United States Navy.
