Sept. 25, 2023 - Rudd Scholar Bayle Sandy found a sense of community at Wichita State University and enjoyed support from many sources for her academic and extracurricular pursuits. Wichita State is proud of its role helping Rudd Scholars pursue passions and realize dreams in the state’s largest city.

Aug. 3, 2023 — Bolstered by a $2 million National Science Foundation grant, a group of Wichita State researchers is hoping to create a paradigm shift from the use of harmful nitrous oxide-based fertilizers to more eco-friendly nitrogen fertilizers that would reduce greenhouse gases.

EAGER offers exploratory funding for high-risk, high-reward research that investigates the nation’s pressing problems.

March 29, 2022 — In the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings of universities offering a Ph.D. in engineering, the College of Engineering at Wichita State University once again was ranked in the top 100 engineering graduate programs in the country and the only institution in Kansas to make it in the top 100.

Oct. 1, 2021 — Before he could even walk, JW Webster could do something only a handful of other people in the world could do: speak the Cherokee language. Today Webster is one of only 1,200 people who can fluently read, write and speak the indigenous language — which is ranked as one of the most difficult languages to learn. In August, Webster’s sacred knowledge became part of Wichita State University’s applied linguistics program through a new class, Elementary Cherokee I (LING 590).
