April 01, 2024 — Hear from Zachary Brown, director of strategic enrollment and student services in the Barton School of Business and a current employee at Wichita State who went to college as a first-gen student, about the first-gen experience.

March 18, 2024 - Wichita State Connect will serve as a hub for preK-12 field trips, mixers and professional development opportunities for educators and to provide WSU academic colleges and programs chances to engage with schools, industry and community partners.

March 14, 2024 - For a second year, Wichita State University will show off its unique cultural and educational assets while welcoming the community to campus during Open Streets ICT - WSU and Shocker Neighborhood on April 14.  

Feb. 15, 2024 - Lexi Jensen enjoys the amenities available in Wichita and the campus environment and academic offerings at Wichita State University. In her first months on campus, she dove into activities such as rowing and the Immersive Leadership Institute.

Feb. 14, 2024 — The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University awarded Faith Swart, a Maize High School senior, the 2024 Clay Barton Scholarship. The $50,000 scholarship is one of the largest business scholarships in Kansas.

Dec. 11, 2023 — Mariann Kurosu worked as a graduate research assistant for the Center for Real Estate while working towards her master’s in economics and quantitative analysis, which she will graduate with this December. She encourages her classmates to embrace the opportunity to learn and build their critical thinking skills and network by getting to know their peers.

Dec. 08, 2023 — Mariana Vazquez Serna got involved at Wichita State’s and made connections with her peers and professors by joining clubs and attending events on campus, something she advises other students to do as well during their time at WSU. She will work as an associate for an accounting firm after graduating with her BBA in accounting.

Nov. 29, 2023 — The first carrier-neutral Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Kansas is slated to be located at Wichita State University, improving internet access, affordability and speed for WSU, Innovation Campus and Shocker Neighborhood users and for users across much of Kansas.

Nov. 6, 2023 — Wichita State University is home to nearly 5,000 first-generation students, individuals whose caregivers weren't able to complete a college degree and who lack the firsthand experience to tackle college life. To help with their transition, Wichita State offers a number of resources to first-gen students to support them during their time in college, including F1RST GEN SHOCKERS.

Oct. 26, 2023 - Support from the Rudd Scholars program helped Hallie Fritz adjust to college and find internships. She is active in the St. Paul Catholic Student Center and works at Credo Coffee Shop. Wichita State is proud of its role helping Rudd Scholars pursue passions and realize dreams in the state’s largest city.

Sept. 25, 2023 - Rudd Scholar Bayle Sandy found a sense of community at Wichita State University and enjoyed support from many sources for her academic and extracurricular pursuits. Sept. 19, 2023 - Wichita State student Denae Sawyer spent the spring semester interning remotely with Dzanc Books. Her work consisted of reading and researching to determine if the manuscript fit Dzanc’s standards and sensibility. She also evaluated the potential audience and marketing strategies.

Sept.14, 2023 - Amy Nguyen uses the Rudd Scholars networking and mentoring programs at Wichita State. She made lifelong friends and participated in numerous campus activities. Wichita State is proud of its role helping Rudd Scholars pursue passions and realize dreams in the state’s largest city.
