Requirements for the BS degree in Physics with Honors

Perspective students can choose between two introductory tracks:
• PHYS 213. General College Physics I Lab included
• PHYS 214. General College Physics II Lab included

• PHYS 313. Physics for Scientists I
• PHYS 314. Physics for Scientists II
• PHYS 315. University Physics Lab I
• PHYS 316. University Physics Lab II


Required advanced labs:

• PHYS 516. Advanced Physics Laboratory
• PHYS 517. Electronics Laboratory
• PHYS 616. Computational Physics Laboratory


Core physics courses:

• PHYS 551. Topics in Modern Physics
• PHYS 621. Analytical Mechanics
• PHYS 631. Electricity and Magnetism
• PHYS 641. Thermophysics
• PHYS 651. Quantum Mechanics
• 8 additional upper division hours in physics, of which at least 3 hours must be in advanced study in one of the three core areas of PHYS 621, PHYS 634, or PHYS 651 (excluding PHYS 395, 501, and 502


Additional required courses:
