Applied Instructor of Harp

Faith Porter O’Neal, a professional harpist living in Wichita since 2009, is Instructor of Harp at Wichita State University School of Music and Oklahoma City University’s Bass School of Music, and Principal Harpist with the Fort Smith Symphony in Arkansas.  She studied with the Grammy Award winning harpist, Alice Chalifoux, principal harpist of the Cleveland Orchestra and renowned student of Carlos Salzedo.  Faith received her bachelor’s degree in harp performance from the Oberlin Conservatory, under the tutelage of international recording artist Yolanda Kondonassis.  She received her Master’s degree from the Shepherd School of Music (Houston, Texas) under the direction of Paula Page, harpist for the Houston Symphony.  After graduating, she spearheaded the Tampa (Florida) Magnet Performing Arts Harp Performance program from 2005-2008, which garnered over 100 students under her directorship.  She has performed with the San Antonio Symphony, the Woodlands Orchestra Symphony, the Galveston Symphony, the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony, the Tulsa Ballet, and the Wichita Grand Opera.  In spring 2018 she was privileged to play in the premier performance and recording of Florence Price’s Fourth Symphony with the Fort Smith Symphony, which is due to be released on the Naxos label in the fall of 2018.
