Photo of J. David Branson. The WSU Theatre Program has been honored to host Alum and Scene Designer J. David Branson on several occasions. Most recently he created the set for the April 2015 opera "Cold Sassy Tree". Previously he has been the guest scenic designer for "Street Scene" in 2009, and "Hansel & Gretel" in 2004,

Now a resident of Chicago, Branson’s designs have been seen at Second City, Music Theatre of Wichita, Denver Theatre Center and Big League Theatricals. His national-tour credits include Beauty and the Beast, Brigadoon and The Music Man, and original productions include Shockwave (Disney), Jungle Man and A Tale of Two Cities. Additional Chicago-area productions include Stardust (Griffin Theatre), Company (Pegasus Players) and The Wizard of Oz (for which he received an After Dark Award). Regional credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie, Smokey Joe's Café, Jekyll and Hyde, and Chess. Branson has an array of industrial design credits and has received three National Addy Awards
