BS in Homeland Security Curriculum
The online BS in Homeland Security degree combines WSU's General Education requirements with a solid core of homeland security courses. This four-year program can be completed fully online and transfer credits are accepted from regionally accredited community colleges and universities.
General Education
- 12 hours Foundation Skills Courses:
- ENGL 101 – College English I
- ENGL 102 – College English II
- COMM 111 – Public Speaking
- MATH 111 – College Algebra
- 12 hours Fine Arts & Humanities Courses General Education Courses
- 12 hours Social & Behavioral Sciences General Education Courses
- 10 hours Natural Science General Education Courses
- The remaining hours would be open electives, including up to 11 additional hours of HLS elective coursework.
HLS Core Requirements
Students must complete a minimum of 41 credit hours of Homeland Security curriculum (41 credit hours encompasses ENGL 210 and SPAN 212, students still need to take 3 credit hours of an HLS elective as part of the HLS requirement):

- HLS 330 Legal Issues in Homeland Security
- HLS 401 Cyber Security
- HLS 403 Physical Security
- HLS 405 Intelligence Process
- CJ 407 Research Methods (This course now satisfies the HLS Applied Learning Requirement)
- HLS 420 Terrorism
- CJ 510 Crime and Transportation
- ENG 210 Business, Professional, & Technical Writing
- SPAN 212 Spanish for Law Enforcement
