Eugene Savaiano Scholarship in Romance Languages
Upon his retirement, colleagues and friends of Dr. Eugene Savaiano decided to raise money for a scholarship in his name. Dr. Savaiano was a professor of foreign language at WSU and was regarded by many students and faculty as one of the university's top teachers. He was 70 years old when he retired in 1984.
At the time of his retirement, Dr. Savaiano and his wife, Geraldine, were certainly accustomed to the benefits of scholarships. They had been providing support for many years by contributing to the Pueblo Summer Program Scholarship, the Summer Program in Strasburg Fund, the Dr. Allen M. Cress Scholarship and others. Furthering their commitment to the university and a fitting tribute to Dr. Savaiano, the Eugene Savaiano Scholarship in Romance Languages helps deserving students enrolled in the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
