Overview

As Energy Sourcing Manager for INVISTA, Ryan Lee has global responsibility over natural gas purchases and strategy. This includes negotiating gas supply agreements with marketing companies and pipelines, working with business leaders to develop medium and long-term strategies, fundamental analysis, price modeling, and market forecasts. In addition to his global natural gas responsibility, Ryan also helps manage the electricity strategy for North America and Europe. This work involves modeling expected price impacts of weather and natural disasters, as well as building a point-of-view on the long-term impact of renewable energy projects.

In 2015, Ryan was awarded the Gore Scholarship at Wichita State. At the start of his freshman year, he began working at INVISTA (a subsidiary of Koch Industries) and continued to work all four years of college as a Quantitative Analyst. After graduation, Ryan assumed the role of Procurement Analytics Manager, responsible for economic and pricing analysis for strategic sourcing. In 2020, he also took on responsibility for sourcing bulk raw materials in Europe for INVISTA’s chemical plants. As part of that transition, he began working on digital transformation and process automation for commodity sourcing. Starting in 2021, Ryan moved to his current role in the energy space.

Ryan graduated from Wichita State in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Business, as well as a Master of Arts in Applied Economics. He also received a Master of Science in Finance from the ESC Pau Business School in Pau, France. During his tenure at Wichita State, Ryan spent a semester studying abroad in Guangzhou, China. Upon returning, he then spent the following summer in Bayonne, France as part of a master’s program. In addition, Ryan is a certified Design Sprint Facilitator and is conversational in Mandarin Chinese.
