Alicia Sanchez is a passionate advocate and social entrepreneur committed to guiding leaders and organizations to foster a culture of inclusion. She currently serves as an assistant dean of students and the director for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Wichita State University. Her on-campus service commitments include, serving on the President is Diversity Council, First-Generation Coordinating Council, various scholarship selection committees, on-campus advisor for Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Incorporated, the Hispanic American Leadership Organization and is a 2014-2015 WSU Leadership Academy Fellow.

Alicia obtained her master's degree in Business Administration from Friends University and she is a current doctoral student in the higher education leadership program at Wichita State University. She is the past board chair for the Wichita Hispanic Chamber of Commerce where she specialized in supporting Hispanic/Latino owned small businesses and connecting them to resource providers. She currently serves as a commissioner for the Kansas Human Right Commission, Kansas Credit Union Council, is a City of Wichita District Two Advisory Board member, and serves on several non-profit boards. She is also an alumna of several leadership programs offered by the Kansas Leadership Center, completed the Advance Kansas diversity and inclusion program, and received a certificate from the Academic Network on HR Diverse Faculty/Staff recruitment.

In the past several years, she has been recognized as the 2019 Wichita State University Young Alumni of the Year, a 2018 Wichita State President's Distinguished Service Award honoree, a Woman in Business, and a 2017 40 under 40 honoree by the Wichita Business Journal, and as a Community Champion by the Kansas Hispanic and Latino American Affairs Commission. Out of everything she has achieved, her greatest accomplishment is being a mom to her son Declan.

Favorite Place on Campus

When it comes springtime, I love being around the north patio of the Rhatigan Student Center! The tulips blooming always makes the campus look extremely beautiful. It makes me feel like I am in Amsterdam!
