For those individuals who are not students, faculty or staff at WSU, you may not be eligible for services at CAPS. You may also be seeking a service that is not provided by CAPS (such as child therapy, neuropsychological testing, state disability assessment or custody and parenting evaluations). If so, there are several local agencies below which may be able to assist you.

  • COMCARE of Sedgwick County is the community mental health center serving residents of Sedgwick County. They provide treatment for 24 hour Suicide Prevention, Crisis Intervention, Children, Adult Mental Health, Adult Addiction Treatment, Adult Community Support, Homelessness and Sedgwick County Offender Assessment.

  • Kansas University School of Medicine - Wichita is a medical training and treatment center with staff providing outpatient medical and psychiatric treatment services. Psychiatric treatment is typically provided through a staff physician or referring physician.

  • Prairie View Regional Mental Health Center is a non-profit behavioral and mental health center with six locations in Kansas (Newton, East and West Wichita, Hutchinson, McPherson and Marion). They offer treatment in psychiatric hospitalization, outpatient services, a community support program and an accredited day school and organizational consultation services. They commonly treat children, adolescents, adults and older adults for a complete range of behavioral and mental health issues including depression, anxiety, stress, anger, eating disorders, dementia, sexually related issues, grief, cognitive disorders, alcohol and substance abuse issues and family and marriage issues.
