Lisa Wiebe
Family Nurse Practitioner, Student Health Services
I have known Lisa for many years. First, as one of my students in the graduate nursing program, then as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) colleague in Student Health Services, and most importantly, as a friend.
Her achievements as a student, alumnus, and FNP are truly remarkable. It was not surprising to see how easily Lisa could master skills, diagnose and manage patient care, and become one of the top FNPs. She was an outstanding student and is an exceptional alumnus.
After graduating with her Master of Science in Nursing degree, the School of Nursing convinced her to teach the Advanced Health Assessment course in the graduate program for several semesters. It was a great success. Lisa provided her expertise as she taught students to achieve the physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge that she easily mastered. Her friendly personality and knowledge made her a great facilitator for students’ learning.
After teaching for us, Lisa joined Student Health Services as an FNP. Lisa made the transition look easy. Her passion for helping patients was soon recognized. She emulates the advanced role of nursing with her expertise and caring. She has provided FNP care to thousands of students who are assisted in Student Health Services. Without doubt, they are in a better physical and mental state as a result of her FNP care.
When I reflect on Lisa, these words come to mind: Intelligent, Compassionate, Resourceful, Helpful, Generous, Loyal to the Profession, Excellent Health Care Provider, Family Advocate, Friend. WSU is fortunate to have Lisa in Student Health Services and I am extremely fortunate to have Lisa as my friend and colleague.
