Associate Vice President of Auxiliary Services and Director of Rhatigan Student Center

Student Affairs

It is with great respect and appreciation that I write to recognize the outstanding career and contributions of Kevin Konda as he becomes a Bender of Twigs. Over the past two decades, Kevin has served our university with unwavering dedication, thoughtful leadership, and a quiet but powerful influence that has left a lasting mark on our students, staff, and community.

Kevin began his service to the university on November 1, 1999, as the Assistant Director of the University Bookstore. His integrity and commitment to student success were evident from the very beginning. By April 2003, he was named Bookstore Director, where he implemented innovative programs such as the Textbook Rental Program and led the store during milestone moments, including the men’s basketball team’s unforgettable Final Four run.

In July 2010, Kevin’s leadership expanded when he became the Assistant Director of the Rhatigan Student Center, guiding the ambitious 2012 renovation project that transformed the heart of campus. His ability to manage complex projects with steady guidance and a collaborative spirit prepared him well for his promotion to Executive Director of the RSC in December 2016, and later to Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Auxiliary Services in 2018.

In these roles, Kevin has overseen countless initiatives that enhanced the student  experience and strengthened the university community. He successfully guided  the transition of dining services from Sodexo to Chartwells, bringing in new dining favorites such as Starbucks, Panda Express, and Freddy’s. He championed  the Access Now Digital Textbook program and opened the Shocker Store at Braeburn Square, ensuring students have greater access to resources. He also  oversaw significant building improvements, from new chillers and roof replacements to the CAC Theatre project, demonstrating his commitment  to maintaining high-quality facilities for the campus community. Kevin will always be the only person I have ever known that could get undergraduate students to be excited about and supportive of replacing a roof!

Kevin’s leadership has also extended to athletics, where he supported multiple national championships for both the men’s and women’s bowling teams, and played a pivotal role in the historic move of the women’s bowling team into NCAA competition.

While these achievements are remarkable, what truly sets Kevin apart are his personal qualities. He is known for being honest, trustworthy, reliable, steadfast, and unassuming. Colleagues, students, and staff alike describe him as a leader who leads not for recognition, but for the good of the institution and those he serves. Kevin Konda, the Student Affairs secret weapon, for his thoughtfulness, asking the right questions, and steadfastness, is deserving membership in the Bender of Twigs.
