The Hiring Manager is the individual responsible for identifying the need to backfill a vacancy, to create a position description, to provide guidance to the search committee, to notify the search committee of their role in the search, and for the final hiring decision. The Hiring Manager can be the same person as the Search Chair. If the Hiring Manager is not the Search Chair, the Hiring Manager selects the Search Chair and Search Committee. The Hiring Manager partners with the Search Chair to coordinate a successful search.
