There are limited concurrent VPN sessions available with the old Cisco VPN.  Due to the limitation of session availability with Cisco VPN, we highly recommend updating to the new VPN.  Instuctions located on

  • Creating a VPN Session is NOT required for several WSU Applications.  For example the following DO NOT require VPN:  Blackboard, myWSU, Skype, TEAMs, Microsoft Office 365, Employee Dashboard, Reporting Services, and WSU Reporting.
  • VPN Session is REQUIRED for the following:  access a work computer located on campus, online Avaya Voicemail access, WSU shared drives, and Banner 9 (PROD).

Windows Off Campus PC: VPN Setup & Access

Download and install VPN

  1. From myWSU > Faculty Staff page, click on VPN Download

  2. Read information provided, check ‘I agree’ box and click continue

  3. Click on the link to automatically install VPN Download

  4. Enter your myWSU ID and Password

  5. Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client will automatically download

    • If the download is unsuccessful, click the install link to download manually

  6. Click Run to download software and continue to follow download instructions until program is completely installed

Accessing & Configuring VPN

  1. The Icon will appear in the taskbar notification area in the bottom right of the screen.

    • If the icon is not visible, Click the arrow icon to display notification icons that are hidden
  2. Click on Cisco icon to run VPN
  3. If VPN was not automatically configured during installation, enter
    Click Connect
    As described above, click connect
  4. Enter WSU ID and Password and click OK

  5. VPN will be activated.

  6. Click on the link to deactivate once remote session is complete.
    • Click the Cisco VPN Icon and press Disconnect.
