Magician: Derek Hughes

Kick off the semester with SAC and Stand-Up Magician, Derek Hughes, as he brings his hilarious magic act to Wichita State. Hughes has performed his magic on MTV, VH1, Comedy Central, and the CW’s Penn & Teller: Fool Us. He’s a consulting producer on TRUtv’s hit magic series, The Carbonaro Effect and was a finalist on season 10 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Speaker: Rain Dove

Rain Dove is an androgynous/agender model, actor, and activist. Featured in Vogue, Cosmo and People magazine, Dove, is best known for breaking the stereotypes through their work in fashion, posing as male and female models in photoshoots, productions and runway shows. Genetic engineer, firefighter, and fashionista, Rain Dove is a humanitarian bringing awareness to what is means to be non-binary and promoting self-identity. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free for all attendees!

Comedian: Matt Bellassai

Matt Bellassai is a writer, comedian, Internet personality, and 2016 People’s Choice Award Winner who writes frequently about pop culture, humor, and the struggles of daily life as a twenty-something man-child. He is the former writer, producer, and star of BuzzFeed’s “Whine About It,” a comedic web series that drew a weekly audience of over 5,000,000 viewers on Facebook. Matt can currently be found on Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and Facebook in his new video series “To Be Honest”, where he shares his hilarious commentary on the struggles of life as a single gay man living a childish life in New York. Tickets can be purchased for $5 to students with WSU ID (limit one per person), $8 to WSU Faculty and Staff with WSU ID (limit one per person), and $12 to the General Public. Stereotyped 101™ is program uniquely designed to educate and cultivate a sincere comprehension of the intersection of modern-day diversity, with a focus on Inversity™ - inclusion and introspection. Karith Foster, professional comedian and speaker uses the perfect blend of humor, interactive audience participation and heartfelt personal stories to engage her audience and shed light on taboo and sensitive subjects that include but are not limited to racism, LGBTQIA issues, class-ism, even size-ism and the many other predispositions that fall into the realm of our unconscious bias. This high-energy presentation prompts people to not just think about how we view the world and ourselves but how to actively promote change. This event is free and open to the public.
