Homecoming is a special time at Wichita State! There are many celebrations and events that happen on and around campus. Stop by and wish Wu a very happy birthday, visit one of our local businesses and check out their decorated windows, and even attend a football game. Bowling Tournament

Monday, October 19 - Friday, October 23

Assemble your team of four and sign-up to take on the Homecoming Bowling Tournament challenge. Each team will bowl a total of two games, your point total will be based on the scores of all bowlers and the two games combined.  Teams must sign-up using the link below by Thursday, October 14 at midnight

Teams may register as part of the Spirit Competition or as an Individual Event Participants. Teams can be made up of students, faculty, staff, or community. Game rules can be found in the Spirit Competition rules packet.

5K Pumpkin & 1k Little Pumpkin FUN Run

Saturday, October 23

1k/5k Pumpkin Run registrants receive a custom t-shirt and finisher medal.

Awards will be given to the top age group finishers and overall winners. Times will have to be verified prior to receiving an award. 

Race registration fee is non-refundable/transferable. The event will occur rain or shine.

Trunk-or-Treat

1-4 p.m. | Rhatigan Student Center South Parking Lot

Trunk-or-Treat is a long-running tradition at Wichita State that welcomes community members of all ages to campus for a fun-filled family event. Student groups and community members will host cars, activities, and give away plenty of treats and prizes. Food and beverages will be available at a nominal expense. Credit/Debit Cards Accepted. 

Student groups, department, and community members may register to host a decorated car, activity or volunteer.

WSU Symphony Orchestra Concert

Tuesday, October 26
7:30 p.m. | Miller Concert Hall

Tenor Michael Sylvester, Associate Professor of Voice, has performed leading roles in the major opera houses of the world. He joins the WSU Symphony to sing two songs by Richard Strauss, “Traum durch die Dammerung” and “Zueignung,” together with “When I Was a Lad” from Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore. The orchestra also performs Johannes Brahms’s Symphony No. 1 in C Minor and Internet Symphony: Eroica by Chinese-American composer Tan Dun.

Dive-In Movie: Jaws

Dive-in to the story of a great white shark terrorizing the shores of Amity Island, the ingenuity of Director, Stephen Spielberg and an award-winning cast including Richard Dreyfuss, Robert Shaw, and Roy Scheider, all on the big screen from your float in the Heskett Center Pool. Jaws (1975) current rating score would be equivalent to PG-13.

The dive-in movie is hosted in the Heskett Center Pool, proper swimwear is encouraged if you plan to be in the water (beware of sharks)

Pizza with the President & First Gentleman

Catch up with Wichita State President, Dr. Richard Muma and 1st Gentleman Rick Case at Pizza with the President. There will be live-music, food, games, and Homecoming giveaways. Pizza is free to Wichita State students while supplies last.

Big Pink Volleyball

This nationwide philanthropy is larger than life. Get your team together for a BIG game of Big Pink Volleyball. Registration is $5 per player and all funds are donated towards Breast Cancer Research.

Students and alumni of all degree levels, class levels, and ALL majors have an exciting opportunity to visit employers hiring for full-time and part-time positions, internships, and co-ops positions locally and throughout the nation at the AAC Career Fair. All Universities from the ACC are participating in this HUGE event – AND sharing their employer network! Universities include East Carolina University, SMU (Southern Methodist University), Temple University, The University of Tulsa, Tulane University, University of Central Florida, University of Cincinnati, University of Houston, University of Memphis, University of South Florida, and Wichita State University.

Casino Night

Student groups from across campus will host games like poker, black jack, roulette, and craps. Experience or not, players will have many chances at winning great prizes like electronics, tech gadgets, camping gear, food packages, and more. Players will cash in their chips throughout the night in exchange for tickets. Tickets are used for chances towards prize drawings. Anyone can play, only Wichita State students are eligible to win. Sponsored by Student Activities Council


15th Presidential Inauguration Ceremony

2:30 p.m. | Hughes Metropolitan Complex, Lowe Auditorium

The inauguration ceremony for Dr. Richard D. Muma will be held at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex at 29th Street N. and Oliver, and will be livestreamed on YouTube and campus television monitors.

Flag Football: All-Stars Game

6:30 p.m. | Cessna Stadium 

Teams go head-to-head to prove to you who is the best! Two games will be played with a women's game taking place at 6:30 and men's at 7:30. Admission to this event is free and open to all.


Glow Yoga

Friday, October 29
7 p.m. | Heskett Center, Room 141

Practice your yoga skills under the glow of black light. When selecting what to wear for glow yoga, wear outfits and materials that are either white or fluorescent. The brighter the neon color the greater the chance that the item will glow. Fluorescent green, pink, yellow, and orange are the safest bets.


Fright Night

Homecoming Parade

Saturday, October 30
noon | north perimeter road from Koch Arena to Eck Stadium

Campus and community come together for the Wichita State University Homecoming Parade. The parade will be marshaled by the 15th President of Wichita State Dr. Rick Muma and features dozens of rolling and walking entries. The parade will begin at noon on the interior of campus beginning at Koch Arena and heading east towards Eck Stadium.

Shocktoberfest

Saturday, October 30
1 p.m. following the parade | Braeburn Square

The fun continues as the university marching band, Shocker Sound Machine, leads the parade entries into Braeburn Square for food, fun, and festivities. Businesses will have special offers, there will be family friendly games and entertainers, and we will celebrate the Wichita State students and announce winners of Homecoming competitions.
