Helping High Schoolers Land Internships

While supporting Admissions with recruitment, Career Specialists Donisha Ross and Maggie Slack recently sat down with ten juniors at Andale High School to participate in mock interview sessions. Primed with impressive resumes and academic achievements, the students were preparing for upcoming internship opportunities. After receiving prior training on how to successfully handle Skype and phone interviews, the students were ready to put their skills to the test at these in-person meetings.

“We met with a great group of students who had impressive skills and job experience. It is great to see high school students gaining career competencies early on,” said Ross.

Career courses at Andale High School not only help students prepare for the professional world, but also offer the opportunity to gain experience in fields of interest. They can use these experiences to determine a path for their future and see how potential major choices and programs at WSU can help them to follow their dreams.
