 Service-Learning

More Than Service

Alternative Breaks are an immersive way to learn about social and cultural issues throughout communities. Students apply to go on Alternative Break, and once selected must enroll in the Service and Leadership Need course. This experiential course uses an applied learning method of service-learning to explore different communal needs. The class will explore social justice issues related to service through readings, discussions, writing, reorientation service in Wichita and research-based reflection. Upon completion of this course students will have obtained social responsibility and civic engagement, leadership development, and clarified values.
