Welcome to the Legislative Records Page!
Under Speaker Olivia Babin's direction, the Legislative Branch, or the Student Senate,
serves as the direct representatives of students at Wichita State University. The
66 members of the Student Senate are elected annually or appointed by the President
of the Senate to represent all areas of the student population. The Legislative Records
page will keep a running tab of attendance, voting records and the legislative packets
and keeps track of what the Senate is currently working on.
Senators, when they are elected or appointed, commit to understand that the work of
the people takes time. Each Senator is required to attend every Senate meeting, standing
or special, and other mandatory events. Senators are given three absences in a single term in order to remain compliant with Standing Rules of the Senate.
Starting in the 63rd Session, the Senate will be using an online software to track
each and every vote conducted in the Senate floor. This record shows how each Senator
votes: yes, no, abstain or if they missed the vote.

During each week, the Senate meets to review, debate, and approve pieces of legislation
that directs the Association to do certain things. Whether it is approving the expenditure
of funding, issuing regulations, official appointments, and so much more the weekly
legislative packets will include all agendas, minutes, copies of legislation, and
anything else that the Senators will be reviewing.
