International Studies

In a globalizing world, demand for graduates with an understanding of different regions and cultures of the world is growing. Employers look favorably on employees with language skills and international knowledge.

The International Studies major at Wichita State University is an interdisciplinary degree with courses in multiple departments. Students focus on a particular region of the world, including studying relevant languages, while pursuing one of two degree tracks. The Area Studies Track focuses on historical, political and cultural relations, while the Business Administration Track focuses on international business.

Graduates of the IS program at WSU establish careers with government agencies, multinational corporations, law firms, nonprofits and international organizations such as the U.N.

Study Abroad Opportunities

International Studies majors are encouraged (though not required) to explore study abroad options.  There are many summer or semester long opportunities in countries around the world.  Some scholarships are also available for these trips.
