Media are invited to attend iCan Swim and iCan Bike, two summer camps that help children with disabilities learn to swim and ride a two-wheel bicycle independently.
The camps are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, July 28 through Friday, Aug. 1 at the Heskett Center at Wichita State. There will be no media availability from 12:30–1:30 p.m.
Thursday is recommended for the best photo and video opportunity, including visuals of children learning to swim and ride bikes and interviews with faculty, WSU student volunteers and families.
Volunteers will support participants in the water and on bikes, tailoring instruction to each child’s abilities. WSU students also provide follow-up consultations with families after camp to support long-term success in swimming and biking.
This program was brought to Wichita State through student interest and advocacy and reflects the university’s commitment to community engagement and applied learning experiences for students.
The event is sponsored by the Wichita State Department of Physical Therapy and Davis-Moore Auto Group.
