* Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback's senior adviser David Kensinger and prominent Democratic legislator Jim Ward will make the case for electing Mitt Romney or President Obama, respectively, from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. today (Tuesday, Oct. 30) in 104 Lindquist Hall. The debate is co-sponsored by the WSU Political Science Club and Professor Mel Kahn's Presidency class.
* Because of Hurricane Sandy and the resulting travel issues, "Rappelle-toi Prevert," has been postponed and rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the CAC Theater. Tickets are $5 in advance at 978-3180, or $7 at the door.
* The Veterans Upward Bound business office is closed today (Tuesday, Oct. 30) so staff can attend the Michael Tilford Conference on Multiculturalism and Diversity. The office will reopen at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31.
* The Fall 2012 Physics Seminar Series continues with a presentation by Gordon Thomson from the University of Utah at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, in 128 Jabara Hall. The presentation is titled "Ultrahigh Energy Cosmic Rays."
* The next speaker in the Fall 2012 Chemistry Colloquium series, Professor Chia Lee from the University of Arkansas, will speak on "Regulation of Virulence Genes in Staphylococcus Aureus" at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, in 224 McKinley Hall.
* Probationary faculty members are welcome to attend the Pre-Tenure Club Meeting from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in 116 Neff Hall. The informal group provides information, support, advice and fellowship to faculty members navigating the path to tenure.
