* Joshua Piker, associate professor of history at Oklahoma University and an expert on colonial and Native American history, will present a talk drawn from his forthcoming book "The Four Deaths of Acorn Whistler: Telling Stories in Colonial America," at 7 p.m. today (Tuesday, Nov. 27) in 208 Hubbard Hall.
* The Fall Physics Seminar Series will feature "Room Temperature Super Conductors?" by Wichita State emeritus professor James Ho, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in 128 Jabara Hall.
* The final speaker in the Fall 2012 Chemistry Colloquium series features professor Kristin Bowman-James of the University of Kansas speaking on "Serendipity and Surprise in Anion and Transition Metal Coordination," at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in 224 McKinley Hall.
* All Unclassified Professional employees are encouraged to attend the Unclassified Professional fall general meeting from 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in 231 Hubbard Hall. Speakers include President John Bardo, Interim Provost Keith Pickus, Vice President for Administration and Finance Mary Herrin and Vice President for Campus Life and University Relations Wade Robinson.
* WSU faculty and staff are invited to a service learning exploration meeting from 8:30-11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, in Marcus Welcome Center. Service learning is a high impact teaching practice that is known to engage students, improve critical thinking skills and ultimately lead to improved retention and graduation rates. Each letter will cost $1.25 each, postage included, and will be forwarded to Santa Claus, Ind., for a special postmark and then forwarded to the address on the envelope.
