WSU students display research at the Capitol

On Thursday, Feb. 14, nine WSU students presented their research during the 10th Annual Capitol Graduate Research Summit at the Capitol Building before Gov. Brownback, Kansas Legislature, Kansas Board of Regents and other guests and visitors.

The nine students representing Wichita State included Joseph Brungardt, Laina M. Burdiek, Karin Hampton Cernik, Michelle Dreiling, Jo Jardina, David Libby, David Smith, Vishal Nageshkar and Fernando Valenzuela.

Following the event, two students from each of the four Kansas Research Universities were honored with an award. The honors for Wichita State University went to:
-- Non-Biological Award to Jo Jardina (Barbara Chaparro, adviser), Department of Psychology
"Are e-Textbooks the Education Tools of the Future?"
--Biological Award to Laina M. Burdiek (Xiao-Ming Sun, adviser), Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders
"A Normative Study on Wideband Tympanometry and energy Reflectance in Human Ears: Effects of Reptitive Measurements"
