Reminders

* The WSU community will actively participate in the statewide tornado safety drill at 1:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, March 5). This will be a mandatory university-wide drill and all faculty, staff, students and guests are expected to go to a designated shelter until the all clear.

* The Wichita State community is invited to an open forum hosted by Sasaki Associates to update students, faculty and staff on the very latest master planning progress from 5-6:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, March 5) and 10:30 a.m.-noon Wednesday, March 6, in 209 Hubbard Hall.

* Grading courses online can be difficult, but it can also make your life better. Learn some of the finer details of Blackboard Grade Center and principles of online assessment at the "Online Assessment: Not as easy or as hard as you think" development session, hosted by the Media Resources Center at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday, March 5). Learn about using your laptop or tablet device as a virtual whiteboard for your classes, either live in person or for an online-only class, at the "Virtual Whiteboards, Online and Off" session hosted at the Media Resources Center at 12:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, March 5). * The WSU School of Music will host its annual Madrigal Invitational featuring high school madrigal groups from across Kansas at 7:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, March 5) in Wiedemann Hall. Admission is free. The concert also will also include songs by the WSU Madrigal Singers.

* Faculty and staff are invited to attend the President's Campus Update at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in the CAC Theater. President Bardo will discuss the next steps of campus planning and development.

* Around the World Wednesdays: WSU's Cultural Ambassador presentation series continues from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in the Leisure Reading Room, first floor in reserve area, Ablah Library, with a presentation on Turkey and Turkmenistan. Feel free to bring your lunch.

* The next speaker in the Spring 2013 Chemistry Colloquium series is professor Hua Zhao of the Savannah State University presenting "Glycol-Functionalized Ionic Liquids for Enzymatic Transformation of Carbohydrates," at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, in 224 McKinley Hall.
