* WSU emergency building coordinators and interested faculty and staff are invited to hear a one-hour severe weather awareness presentation by Cody Charvat, training and exercise officer for Sedgwick County Emergency Management, from 1-2 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 24) in 231 Hubbard Hall.

* Susan Hanrahan, dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Arkansas State University, will be the first of three candidates to visit campus for dean of the College of Health Professions at WSU. Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend an open forum presentation from 1:30-2:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 24) in 110 Ahlberg Hall.

* The next speaker in the Spring 2013 Physics Seminar series is professor Victor Migenes of Brigham Young University at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 24) in 126 Jabara Hall. The lecture will be "MASERs: A Very Special Window to the Universe."

* The next speaker in the Spring 2013 Chemistry Colloquium series is professor Jeff Anker of Clemson University at 3:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 24) in 224 McKinley Hall. The lecture will be "Chemical sensing through tissue with X-ray excited optical luminescence probes."

* Wu Wednesday presents a 1.5-mile fitness challenge on the Shocker Walk Path at 4:24 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 24). The cost is $10 per person or $7 each for groups of four or more participants. Proceeds go to the American Heart Association and local charity Rainbows. The first 50 registrants will receive a white Shocker Walker T-shirt. Register at the Heskett Center.
