New curator joins the Ulrich Museum

Ulrich Museum of Art Director Bob Workman announced that Jodi Throckmorton has been selected as curator of modern and contemporary art for the Ulrich Museum. Throckmorton, who begins in June, holds a bachelor's of arts degrees in art history and French from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and earned a master's of arts degree in museum studies from San Francisco State University.

"Jodi has outstanding experience as curator at a dynamic contemporary art museum," said Workman. "She also has a strong commitment to exhibitions and programs built through community engagement and participation. Jodi will play a key role as we continue to grow the Ulrich's impact here at Wichita State, in the Wichita community, and throughout Kansas and the Midwest."

Currently, Throckmorton is associate curator at the San Jose Museum of Art in San Jose, Calif. Her appointment concludes a national search after Emily Stamey left the Ulrich in August to accept the position of associate curator at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Scottsdale, Ariz.

"I am delighted to be joining the talented team at the Ulrich," said Throckmorton. "I have long admired the Ulrich's multi-disciplinary approach to exhibitions and public programs and significant permanent collection. I look forward to working with the innovative faculty and staff at Wichita State University and becoming an active member of the Wichita and Midwest art communities."
