New exhibition at Holmes Museum of Anthropology

You are invited to the opening of a new exhibition at the Lowell D. Holmes Museum of Anthropology. Don't miss the reception for "Cultures Evolve Traditions Remain" from 4-5:30 p.m. Monday, April 29, in the Jackman Gallery, 108 Neff Hall. The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibition was designed and created by students in the Spring Museum Exhibition class.

The Hopi and Navajo cultures, like all cultures, have changed over time. But through it all, both have endured. The passing on of tradition is an important ingredient for the continuation of a culture. While they both live in the same geographic area, the Hopi and the Navajo are two very distinct peoples.

In this exhibition, the story of keeping their unique traditions alive in our modern world is told through the weavings and carvings used in rituals and ceremonial dances.
