Foundation hosts 2013 Fairmount Society Dinner

The WSU Foundation hosted the 2013 Fairmount Society Dinner on May 7 at the Wichita Marriott. This event recognized the university's most distinguished support group, the Fairmount Society. From annual members to lifetime achievement members, these supporters donate from $20,000 during a fiscal year to more than $1 million during their lifetimes. In addition, the 2013 Board of Trustees' Award recipient, William P. Buchanan, Sedgwick County manager, and the 2013 Fairmount Founders' Award recipient, the Kansas Health Foundation, represented by its president and CEO, Steve Coen, were honored.

Speakers included WSU Foundation President and CEO Elizabeth King, WSU President John Bardo, WSU Foundation Board of Directors Chair Bill Moore and WSU Board of Trustees Chair Tom Winters.

WSU alumni, students and faculty performed Electric Nights -- a popular modern work created by Sabrina Vasquez, WSU dance instructor, and Nick Johnson, WSU assistant professor and director of dance.

Videos honoring Buchanan and the Kansas Health Foundation were shown compliments of Armstrong Chamberlin Strategic Marketing and Intake Studios. The videos were followed by comments by Buchanan and Coen.
