* In an effort to share information between departments at WSU, the National Institute for Aviation Research has announced a series of informal lunch discussions to be held at NIAR's main location on campus. The first lunch will be held Friday, June 21, with additional dates on Friday, July 26, and Friday, Aug. 30.

* Shirley Lefever-Davis has been named interim dean of the College of Education effective June 9, according to Keith Pickus, interim provost at Wichita State University. Lefever-Davis will be interim dean for the 2013-2014 academic year while a national search is conducted for a permanent dean.

* The deadline for Shocker Employee and Dependent Scholarship is Saturday, June 1. Scholarship(s) will be awarded to a full- or part-time, benefits eligible employee(s) of Wichita State University, or their dependent (spouse and dependent children only). * The Rhatigan Student Center has information on summer dining operating hours, a map of the summer fence location and detour routes. The construction detours and dates are effective now to Sept. 9.

* WSU has transitioned into a new accreditation model as required by our accreditor, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The new model requires the university to engage in a quality improvement project, also known as a Quality Initiative. The university's Quality Initiative is the Graduation Partnership, and the first annual report has been issued.

* The Performance Management Process for classified employees requires a mid-year discussion between April 1 and June 30. You will not assign a rating, but you will discuss the established objectives and competencies and the employee's progress toward meeting these goals. After the discussion with the employee, have him/her sign on page 10 of the form under mid-year discussion signatures to document that the discussion took place.
