Last Friday during the Riverfest Sundown Parade, a panoply of creatures including a hedgehog, owl, fox, bear and raccoon, two rabbits and an entire wolf family trekked the parade route in a nod to the upcoming exhibition, "Nature's Toolbox: Biodiversity, Art and Invention" on view from Aug. 31-Dec. 15, at the Ulrich Museum. The museum staff, their families and friends donned the fanciful creature costumes. They were joined along the parade route by the WSU Sculpture Guild, who won "Best Use of Theme" with their sprawling, 60-foot orange octopus.
