College of Education to host exceptionality awareness day

Exceptionalities Awareness Day is Tuesday, June 18, an event hosted by the WSU College of Education. The college's special education program has partnered with Envision, the nonprofit organization providing employment opportunities and rehabilitation services for individuals with low vision or blindness.

Individuals age 16 and older with low vision or blindness and their families are coming to campus on June 18 to learn more about college life -- not only by attending some classes, but also by shadowing faculty and staff in the college to find out more about campus jobs.

This is part of an effort to expand the education and career options for people with exceptionalities in Wichita, and at the same time, give our special education students an opportunity to work with individuals with exceptionalities and network with those who provide services to them.
