New exhibit at the Ulrich Museum
Currently, his contemporaries -- Thomas Hart Benton, Grant Wood and John Steuart Curry -- may be more widely known, however Sternberg was not considered obscure in his day. As a graphic artist and social realist, Harry Sternberg used prints to draw attention to the lives hard-working Americans during the 1930s and 1940s. His prints, lithographs, etchings and serigraphs reveal the human struggle for justice and democracy during the political and economic crises of the mid-20th century.
The exhibit can be viewed in the Amsden Gallery at the Ulrich Museum. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, and 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; admission is free.
