Reminders

* Effective today (Monday, July 22), cash transfers of RU funds between organizations will be processed by Financial Operations and Business Technology rather than the University Budget Office. Forms will be available for downloading from the Financial Operations website. Forms may be signed by a budget officer and/or a budget review officer, and must be signed by the division vice president before they will be processed. Once signatures have been obtained, send the forms to Campus Box 38. Budget adjustments will continue to be processed by the University Budget Office.

* Federal wage-and-hour lawsuits hit a record high between April 2012 and March 2013. Sign up for Human Resources Wage and Hour training class to make sure you do all you can to limit your liability as a supervisor. Classes are offered Tuesday, July 23; Thursday, Oct. 10; and Tuesday, Dec. 3. Log in to myWSU to sign up, or contact randi.lindquist@wichita.edu for assistance.

* The WSU Child Development Center is now enrolling children for its PreK room. Children need to be 5 before Aug. 31, 2014, and entering kindergarten in August 2014. Please call the Child Development Center at 978-3109 for detailed information.

* The sales tax rate in Sedgwick County decreased from 7.3 percent to 7.15 percent, effective July 1. For those interested in sales tax matters at WSU, the Office of Internal Audit has prepared a sales tax primer, Sales Tax Fundamentals.

* "Speech-Language Development in Preschool-Aged Children: A Quick Tour" will be presented by Brian Ray, clinical supervisor, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, at WSU's Child Development Center. * Student Involvement will host Back to School Bash, a kick-off event for the upcoming school year at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Duerksen Amphitheater. Student Involvement invites departments to participate in this event by either working a game or creating a unique activity. * WSU faculty and staff interested in diversity and multiculturalism are encouraged to submit a proposal by Thursday, Aug. 1, for a presentation or workshop to the Michael Tilford Conference on Diversity and Multiculturalism Oct. 21-22 at Emporia State University.
