* Faculty and staff are invited to the annual Admissions and Financial Aid Workshops for the latest in admissions information, policies and recruiting practices on Aug. 28, Sept. 18 and Oct. 8. Use the information to support recruitment efforts from the perspective of your department. In addition, the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships will present the latest in financial aid guidelines and scholarship practices to interested individuals immediately following the admissions session.

* All interested faculty and staff are invited to attend the Office of Admissions' Campus Visit Workshop from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, at Marcus Welcome Center. Learn about common student questions, engage in roundtable discussions and hear more about the campus visit scheduling process. Faculty and staff will also share some of their best practices and experiences from meeting with visitors.

* The first meeting of the academic year for the Unclassified Professional Senate is 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, in 200 Lindquist Hall. The agenda is on the UP Senate website at http://www.wichita.edu/upsenate.

* Federal regulations and a new WSU policy now require all faculty and course instructors to communicate to students in their course syllabi how a credit hour is defined.

* The WSU Foundation is participating in the 2013 Welcomefest, Shockers are Dinomite, by serving free dino-dogs from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, between the Heskett Center and Hubbard Hall. You also can have your dino-photo taken, which will be posted on the foundation's Facebook page.

* A new shuttle bus service is operating weekdays from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. from the Hughes Metropolitan Complex to the main campus, with five campus stops. For details, go to http://www.wichita.edu/parking.

* WSU will host a free flu shot clinic for faculty, staff and any spouse who are covered by health insurance plans offered by WSU through the state of Kansas from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, in 265 RSC (Lucas Room). To receive a flu shot, you must make your appointment online.
