* The WSU Foundation is participating in the 2013 Welcomefest, Shockers are Dinomite, by serving free dino-dogs from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Aug. 21) between the Heskett Center and Hubbard Hall. You also can have your dino-photo taken, which will be posted on the foundation's Facebook page.

* Applications Training has put together materials to answer your questions about the new and changed features in Office 2013. Check out the new online guides and demonstrations found in EmpHelp (orange cube underneath the weather in myWSU). Click on Microsoft, then Microsoft Office Products Learning Guides and Handouts and, finally, What is New in Office 2013. To request an upgrade on your computer to Microsoft Office 2013, contact your area's Technical Support STAC at 978-HELP (4357) or helpdesk@wichita.edu.

* Because of ground conditions, the Stephanie McCart Memorial Golf Tournament originally scheduled for Aug. 17 has been rescheduled for Oct. 5, and the start time has been changed to 9 a.m. For more information, contact Cheryl McCart at 316-835-2495, cmccart@cox.net or 302 W. 2nd, Halstead.

* KMUW is offering free calendar strips for computer monitors, desk edges and cubical walls. The calendar strips adhere to computer monitors or just about any surface you choose. The 2013-14 academic year-at-a-glance calendar is a handy reference. Anyone wanting one or more should call 978-6789 or send an email request to info@kmuw.org.

* The University Bookstore is having a huge sale this week through Friday, Aug. 23. All clearance is buy one get one half off. Also, select hoodies are $19.99, and select T-shirts are $9.99. Stop by and get a great deal.

* Providing a safe and secure environment for the WSU community is a top priority. "Campus Safety-Active Shooter" is a new live training initiative designed to enhance WSU's proactive approach for a safe campus environment and to prepare our faculty, staff and students in case of a campus violence incident. Training will focus on what to do in an active campus shooter incident and how to identify and report concerning behaviors.
