* Join in WSU's fall tradition -- Convocation 2013 -- at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday, Aug. 27) in Charles Koch Arena. Bring your Shocker spirit and enjoy an exciting program, a free Pizza Hut lunch and get a free T-shirt for attending. Pick up a program agenda with your tickets as you enter Koch Arena in order to receive your T-shirt and lunch.

* Campus Recreation invites you to compete in various chllenges, make a splash in the pool, participate in fitness demos, climb Mount Wu, get involved with a sport club and more from 7-9:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, Aug. 27) at the Heskett Center.

* Join the Office for Faculty Development and Student Success, and honors staff and faculty for the annual open house to kick off the new academic year from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, in 115A Neff Hall. Light refreshments will be served. Hear about what is new with their programs and what to expect this fall and spring.

* Wichita State and Kansas State University researchers are working together to begin preliminary research work on the impact of the burgeoning energy exploration on older adults in rural and frontier Kansas. The project is supported in part by the Cassat Regional Institute on Aging Research Fund housed in the WSU Regional Institute on Aging.

* KMUW is offering free calendar strips for computer monitors, desk edges and cubical walls. The calendar strips adhere to computer monitors or just about any surface you choose.
