* Faculty, staff and students are invited to "The Sunflower" open house from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 11) in the basement of Elliott Hall. Enjoy free pizza, pop and cookies, while meeting the student newspaper staff of "The Sunflower." The event is sponsored by WSU Athletics, Papa Johns and Maxine's Challenge.

* Meredith Minkler, who holds a doctoral degree in public health, will give a communitywide presentation to introduce Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) from 3:30-5 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 11) in Lowe Auditorium, Hughes Metropolitan Complex. Admission is free.

* Professor David Archer from the Department of Geophysical Sciences, University of Chicago, will present a Physics Seminar lecture at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 11) in 128 Jabara Hall. The lecture is titled "The Importance of Longevity in a Greenhouse Gas as an Agent of Climate Change." Refreshments and discussion follow the presentation.

* The Fall 2013 Chemistry Department Colloquium will feature Michael Jensen of Ohio University presenting "Half-sandwich Scorpionate Complexes for Catalysis and Biomimetic Coordination Chemistry," at 3:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Sept. 11) in 224 McKinley Hall.

* The Office of Research and Tech Transfer has implemented an online effort certification process. If you worked on any federally funded grants or had cost match on a federally funded grant, you received an email asking that you complete the certification process by Friday, Sept. 13. * The lecture series in the mathematical sciences presents professor Christian Wolf from the City College of New York and a lecture "The Variational Principle Revisted: A Localized Approach" at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, in 372 Jabara Hall. * Free your toes in support of the Office of Multicultural Affairs 2nd Annual A Day Without Shoes from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, on the RSC north patio. The event raises awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on one's life by going without. Leave your footprint on campus as OMA raises awareness on social inequality.
