* Two orientations for undergraduate students interested in the social work program will be held from 8-9:15 a.m. today (Tuesday, Sept. 10) in 114 Lindquist Hall, and 5-6:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, in 107 Devlin Hall. Information about the BSW program, the application process and more will be provided.

* WSU will hold a meeting for faculty, staff and students to discuss the next phase of the strategic plan from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the Preferred Medical Systems Multi Purpose Center adjacent to Charles Koch Arena. The agenda includes an update from President Bardo on major initiatives; expectations for the next phases of strategic planning; and table discussions on critical areas including adult education, distance education and student retention. The meeting will provide an opportunity for campus constituency feedback.

* Professor David Archer from the Department of Geophysical Sciences, University of Chicago, will present a Physics Seminar lecture at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, in 128 Jabara Hall. The lecture is titled "The Importance of Longevity in a Greenhouse Gas as an Agent of Climate Change." Refreshments and discussion follow the presentation.

* The Fall 2013 Chemistry Department Colloquium will feature Michael Jensen of Ohio University presenting "Half-sandwich Scorpionate Complexes for Catalysis and Biomimetic Coordination Chemistry," at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, in 224 McKinley Hall.

* Faculty, staff and students are invited to a casual open house coffee from 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday Sept. 11, at the Ulrich Museum of Art to meet and welcome four new employees. Enjoy coffee and light breakfast treats, and meet new director Bob Workman, curator of modern and contemporary art Jodi Throckmorton, registrar Stephanie Teasley, and public relations and marketing manager Jessy Clonts. Visitors may also catch a first glimpse of the new permanent collection exhibition, "Under New Management," which opens that day in the Beren Gallery.
