* Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes is now open to the public on the lower level of the Rhatigan Student Center. The Shocker Sports Grill & Lanes is totally renovated and offers an expanded menu of fun foods and beverages, including salads, sandwiches, wraps and soup.

* Join Communication Sciences and Disorders at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at 332 E. 1st St. for "A Red Carpet Affair" -- the annual champagne and chocolate fundraising event sponsored by the Wichita Scottish Rite (WSR) for WSU's Evelyn Hendren Cassat Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic. * The early bird $85 registration fee deadline for the College Success Through Financial Literacy conference in Overland Park, Kan., has been extended until today (Friday, Sept. 27). This conference offers a rare opportunity for high school and college staff to explore issues related to students' personal finance skills and their college success. * Encourage students to apply by Tuesday, Oct. 1, for the Soroptimist Scholarship Fund for WSU students for the 2013-2014 academic year. This scholarship considers financial need, academic promise and leadership qualities. Preference will be given to mature undergraduate degree-bound women endeavoring to acquire or advance in a career for the benefit of themselves and children dependent on them.
