* The university assessment committee will sponsor the first fall Assessment Symposium from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, in the Champion's Club at Charles Koch Arena. Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP to Jeanne Patton at jeanne.patton@wichita.edu or by calling 978-5059. The topics are data and services available from the Office of Planning Analysis (formerly Institutional Research), and an overview of the 2013 NSSE results.

* Georgetown University Department of Mathetmatics Professor Hans G. Kaper will present a Physics Seminar lecture "Mathematics and Climate: A New Partnership" at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in 128 Jabara Hall. Refreshments and discussion follow the presentation.

* The Fall 2013 Chemistry Department Colloquium will feature Gregory Girolami of the University of Illinois, presenting "Synthesis of Inorganic Molecules for Micro- and Nanoelectronic Applications" at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in 224 McKinley Hall.

* The Student Wellness Action Team will host its 2nd Annual Big Pink Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 5, in the Heskett Center, to promote breast cancer awareness. Registration forms are available at http://www.wichita.edu/shs under featured links. Registration forms and fees are due by 5 p.m. today (Tuesday, Oct. 1) at Student Health in 209 Ahlberg Hall.

* SAC is seeking departments to participate in the Door Decoration Competition for Shocktoberfest 2013 -- ObSeussed with Shocktoberfest. Decorate your office doors/entry ways according to the theme (Dr. Seuss) and follow a few other guidelines listed in the packet. Winners receive at $100 office party and the traveling trophy. Entry forms are due Monday, Oct. 7, to Student Involvement.
