Beginning from the distinction between volunteerism and service learning, this session will discuss strategies and best practices for introducing meaningful service learning activities into your classes from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in 223 Hubbard Hall. Courtesy of the Office for Faculty Development and Student Success, a panel that includes faculty who currently use service learning will lead a discussion about formulating learning objectives, designing activities to meet those objectives, the importance of structured student reflections about their experiences, logistics and planning, dealing with surprises and more.
