Reminders

* The Office for Faculty Development and Student Success is offering Scientific Teaching from 12:30-1:45 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 2) in 211 Neff Hall. Scientific Teaching applies the practices and values of science to teaching scientific content, but these strategies can be used in any classroom. This is an offering in the Institute on High Impact Practices, which is open to all instructors on campus. Register by contacting ofdss@wichita.edu or 978-3209.

* Georgetown University Department of Mathetmatics Professor Hans G. Kaper will present a Physics Seminar lecture "Mathematics and Climate: A New Partnership" at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 2) in 128 Jabara Hall. Refreshments and discussion follow the presentation.

* The Fall 2013 Chemistry Department Colloquium will feature Gregory Girolami of the University of Illinois, presenting "Synthesis of Inorganic Molecules for Micro- and Nanoelectronic Applications" at 3:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 2) in 224 McKinley Hall.

* Daniel Seddiqui, author of "50 Jobs in 50 States" will be the keynote speaker at 6 p.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 2) in 208 Hubbard Hall.

* KMUW needs new and experienced volunteers to answer pledge phones during its fall on-air pledge drive that begins Wednesday, Oct. 16. Volunteers need to attend one training session for up to one hour. Call Pat Hayes at 978-7171 to sign up for a training session at 7 a.m. or noon Wednesday, Oct. 9, or noon or 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10. Your help is appreciated.

* The annual Michael Tilford Conference on Diversity and Multiculturalism will be held at Emporia State University Oct. 21-22. Named after WSU's own Michael Tilford, the conference provides an opportunity for faculty, staff and administrators of Kansas Board of Regents institutions across the state to share ideas and resources for building culturally competent campus communities.
