* Because of several unforeseen events, the Walk across America for Indigenous Rights participants must cancel their campus visit scheduled for today (Friday, Oct. 4).

* The WSU volleyball team will host Southern Illinois at 7 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 4) and Evansville at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, in Charles Koch Arena. For tickets, call 978-FANS (3267).

* The WSU reading series Writing Now, Reading Now will present a reading with award-winning author Alice McDermott at 7 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 4) in the CAC Theater. * Wichita State's Symphony Orchestra will host "An Evening with Samuel Ramey," at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, in Miller Concert Hall, Duerksen Fine Arts Center.

* Young prize-winning pianist Asiya Korepanova will play a piano recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, in Wiedemann Hall. Tickets are free for students with a valid WSU ID. Ticket prices are $7. For tickets, go to http://www.wichita.edu/fineartsboxoffice.

* Cessna Stadium's basement cannot currently be used as a haunted house according to the National Fire Protection Association International Safety Code specifically for Haunted Houses, forcing the cancelation of the WSU Track and Field "Tunnels of Terror" fundraiser set for every Saturday in October and Halloween night, according to the athletic department. Cessna Stadium meets all other fire code regulations, just not those set up specifically for haunted houses nationally.

* SAC is seeking departments to participate in the Door Decoration Competition for Shocktoberfest 2013 -- ObSeussed with Shocktoberfest. Decorate your office doors/entry ways according to the theme (Dr. Seuss) and follow a few other guidelines listed in the packet. Winners receive at $100 office party and the traveling trophy. Entry forms are due Monday, Oct. 7, to Student Involvement.
