WSU announces bag checking policy, parking shuttles

Wichita State has made changes to its bag checking policy for men's basketball games and will run parking shuttles on select game nights, the athletic department announced.

The university has reworked entrances to create lines specifically for those who have small personal bags that need to be checked.

Backpacks, drawstring bags and anything other than a small personal bag like a purse, are not permitted inside Koch Arena any longer.

Outside food and drink, weapons including conceal carry and alcohol or drugs, are also not permitted inside Koch Arena at any time.

The athletic department encourages fans to arrive early, and if they are bringing a small personal bag with them to the game, use the assigned bag check line at each entrance.

Wichita State will also run parking shuttles on nights when classes on campus are in session. Those evenings this year are Nov. 14 (William & Mary), Jan. 28 (Loyola) and Feb. 11 (Southern Illinois).

The university's shuttle will run its regular route and features limited parking at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex at 29th and Oliver, and five convenient shuttle stops on campus. Fans wishing to use this service can be dropped off at Wiedemann Hall, directly south of Koch Arena.

WSU Athletics will also run an additional campus-only shuttle starting at 4:30 p.m. on those game nights. Stops will include the Marcus Welcome Center, Grace-Wilkie Hall, Ahlberg Hall and Koch Arena. This shuttle will circle campus and is designed to service the lots furthest from Charles Koch Arena.

Fans can visit http://www.wichita.edu/parking for up-to-date parking information, including maps for both shuttles.
