Schwartz Lecture Series presents Peter Bassi
No matter what you do -- student, professor, employee, manager or executive -- you should be continually focused on how to be more effective, how to take it up a notch. Bassi will offer suggestions to help you do just that. Be prepared for a different look at obvious insights. Based on his experience, expect numerous global examples to provide a new perspective.
Bassi retired from Yum in 2005. His last eight years there he was president and then chairman of Yum Restaurants International, responsible for more than 13,000 restaurants scattered across more than 100 countries and generating more than $600 million in operating profit in 2005. This same business exceeded $1.5 billion in profit in 2012.
Before that, Bassi had a wide range of roles in Pepsico/Yum including both Finance and general management positions working for Pepsi-Cola, Pepsi International, Frito-Lay, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell in addition to the international restaurants' business.
He currently sits on three boards: BJ's Restaurants, where he is the lead independent director (he also sits on audit and comp committees); Potbelly Sandwich Works, where he chairs the audit committee; and Amrest, the largest independent restaurant operator in Eastern Europe.
Pete alternates his time between Newport Beach and Indian Wells -- both in Southern California.
